How can I find a better value for my Max HR?
When I first used Activio I used the formula "226 - age" and now use a Max HR value of 198 bpm.
In the beginning this was okay but now when I have trained with Activio for a while I sometimes feel that my max HR value is wrong because I'm in the wrong zone all the time. For instance when I'm not feeling tired at all I can be in the yellow zone for 20-30 minutes without any problem.
My instructor say I need to find a better value for my maximum heart rate, how can I do that?

FINDING A MORE ACCURATE MAXIMUM HEART RATE
- Strap on the chest belt and start exercising
- Check your heart rate on the Activio meter
- Estimate your perceived level of excertion, from white to red
- Is the meter showing too low compared to how you feel?
- Begin by lowering the starting value by 5 beats.
- Is the meter showing too high compared to how you feel?
- Begin by raising the starting value by 5 beats.
Repeat the routine for a few classes and the system will soon be calibrated with your accurate maximum heart rate.
An example:
- You have used a max hr of 195 BPM.
- Start exercising, if you feel that you reach the colored zones to early you need to follow step 6-7 and add 5 beats to your max hr (195+5).
- Next time you try to use a max hr of 200 bpm and see how that feels.
